The importance of Clean Beauty

Clean beauty is a hot topic in today's world, and we understand why. With skin being the largest organ, it needs to breathe by having clean products that don't clog our pores causing breakouts. We've come a long way from the times of the Greek who would apply poisonous lead to their faces to achieve the highly fashionable pale skin (or have we?). Do we know what is in our current beauty products? How bad are they? What exactly is clean beauty? Clean beauty is defined by only using products or ingredients that are naturally derived, organic, sustainable, and cruelty free (we love animals around here!), and those things are reason enough to make the switch. We definitely want to erase our carbon footprint. But let's take a deeper dive to understand why these things are important.

When you choose clean beauty, you are also doing your part to aid in our planet's care and protection of our environment. There are no harmful chemicals added to natural products, meaning that the sale of man-made harmful chemicals will decrease as more and more people choose to get on the path of choosing clean skincare. And since eco-friendly organic ingredients originate from sustainable farming, your ripple effect runs deep. By helping your skin breathe, you are helping our Earth breathe...

With no harmful chemicals being added, organic skincare products have gentle and natural ingredients that can help soothe and repair the skin. Ingredients are high quality, natural, and have been farmed without the use of chemicals like synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. Your skin will no longer have bad reactions to new or different products. Synthetic and man-made ingredients have been proven to cause premature aging, while natural ingredients work harmoniously with our skin. 

Prevent Premature Aging

In addition to being great for your skin, clean beauty is also safe for animals should they come in contact with them. Most clean beauty brands also use packaging that is environmentally conscientious as well, with plastic packaging being BPA free to using bio-degradable packaging. Our planet only survives if we take care of it. 

Safe for Animals

Organically grown plants have a higher level of antioxidants than their non-organic peers. Antioxidants help protect your skin from free radicals, reduce oxidative stress and prevent pigmentation. You get better, faster results because up to organic products contain active ingredients - meaning they get to work straight away soothing and nourishing your skin. 

It Just Works Better

Synthetic substances can commonly trigger or even cause allergic reactions and allergens. By having your organic skincare products clearly define the organic ingredients within, you can see exactly what you are putting on your face and confidently know you won't be causing any damage or ailments to yourself. 

Less Allergens

Buckle up, these are just some of the nasty substances commonly found in our current traditional favorite beauty products. 
  • Quaternium-15, 18, and 26 are just some of the substances that release formaldehyde when they mix with air. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen, so check your labels for the following: (usually found in skincare lotions, shampoos, and baby products)
  1. DMDM hydantoin
  2. Bronopol
  3. BHUT (butylated hydroxytoluene)
  4. Diazolidinyl urea
  5. Sodium hydroxymethyl glycinate
  6. Imidazolidinyl urea
  7. Methenamine

  • BHT & BHA - butylated compounds that cause skin allergies, reproductive, organ, and developmental toxicity. Used as preservatives in almost all cosmetics and also in diaper cream. Choose products containing natural preservatives like Vitamin E.

  • Lead - it's harmful effects are well documented and though it's banned in products you apply to your skin, yet the FDA has openly stated that around 99% of cosmetic products contain some. While lead levels may be well below the safety threshold, with continued use you will see effects. Artificial colorants are the most common suspects for lead contamination. Use products that use naturally derived pigments.

  • Phthalates - this can mimic human hormones, wreaking havoc with your endocrine system - can cause reproductive, developmental, and neurological damage. This ingredient is often hidden under the label 'fragrance'. Companies don't need to disclose the ingredients that give their products a unique smell because it's a 'trade secret'. The only way to avoid phthalates is too choose products that use plant oils and essences as fragrance.

  • Parabens, Octinoxate, & Siloxanes - parabens, like Isobutylparaben, are used as preservatives. According to studies, parabens can cause hormone malfunction and obesity. These harmful chemicals easily penetrate human skin. Steer clear of all products with ingredients ending in -methicone or -siloxane.

  • Phenylenediamine -  A known respiratory toxicant. Look for the letters, CL, followed by a five-digit number. Most often found in permanent hair dyes.

  • Carbon Black - can cause organ toxicity and cancer and it's usually listed as one of the following ingredients:
  1. Channel black
  2. Pigment black 6 or 7
  3. Acetylene black
  4. Arrow
  5. Atlantic
  6. Black pearls

How do i book my day with you?

Please fill out the sign up form on our connect page and we will schedule a consultation with you to determine if we are a good fit. To further the process, we will then send you a link to your Client Portal, where you can sign our contract and pay your retainer  ($400). After those steps are complete, your date with us is secured.

What products do you carry?

We carry a range of brands to cater to a wide range of skin/hair types; which allows us to provide a flawless customized finished look for each individual. Our kits are stocked with ultra-luxe hair care, cosmetics, and skin care. from brands such as TEMPTU, Bobbi Brown, MAC, Éminence, Kevin Murphy, Too Faced, Oribe, and others.

When do I schedule my preview?

Your bridal preview, also known as a trial, is recommended to be scheduled no more than 3 months before your wedding date. In this timeframe your accessories will be on hand & skin and hair will be very close to how it will be on wedding day, giving us a more accurate understanding of your exact needs. Previews can be scheduled within your client portal after booking.

Will you come to my location?

Beauty services are exclusively on site, offering convenience and more time in your schedule. This also allows us to get to know you in an environment you are familiar or comfortable with. 

what are your sanitation practices?

We take every precaution with an extensive sanitation and sterilization process consistent with the current highest industry standard. We are Barbicide certified and update certification yearly.

Are you licensed and continue Education?

Yes! Jasmine has been a licensed Cosmetologist since 2012 and takes many classes every year in order to ensure she is always delivering high-end services to her clients. The beauty industry is ever evolving and her education follows suit.
